It's enough of a blow to a family to lose someone they love but to be talking to that loved one, helpless, knowing that there's nothing you can do to save them... that's no something that will ever be forgotten or will ever go away.

Now begins the task of writing the history for the 83rd Academy Awards. There were some good moments at the Oscars, but a lot of forgettable events. Unfortunately the bad outweighed the good, which is a shame. It started out beautifully with the red carpet as the stars made their grand entrances. That is always a highlight of every Oscar telecast.

However, the host or hosts is either a hit or miss experiment every year. Needless to say it was definitely a miss with the two young, beautiful and talented actors who co-hosted. I applaud the Academy for wanting to get larger ratings with the coveted 18-49 age group demographic by having Anne Hathaway and James Franco as hosts. Only time will tell if it worked, but I think not.

"Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior": No WOW Factor Yet

I've watched two episodes thus far of the new "Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior". I have to say that right now, I'm a bit disappointed. The backdoor pilot, which aired on the original "Criminal Minds" last season (episode "The Fight"), was a little more giving on characters and their personalities than the show itself has been thus far. Aside from the ex-con, there really hasn't been much differential between the characters enough to get a real sense of who they are.

I guess I expected something more, a little more interaction between the characters would be nice. So far, the first two episodes have been mediocre, cliche topics that, in the end really doesn't do much. I love Criminal Minds and I adore Forrest Whitaker so I really hope it gets better in the coming weeks. I fear if there isn't more for the show to offer, it won't last through to next season.

If you want to know what Chinese water torture is like, then you needed to watch the full two-hour episode of "American Idol" the final installment of the Top 24. Immediately after the finish of Hollywood Week on "American Idol" the chosen 61 contestants were informed it was on to Vegas for more auditions. It seems this season is an endless auditioning process. Once they arrived some met with vocal coaches, especially one coach that made Simon Cowell seem like a lamb in comparison. The contestants were paired in duos and trios with their respective Beatles songs. It was a challenge for many contestants, because one claimed she had never heard a Beatles song in her life.

If this contestant watches television, she has heard many a Beatles songs, especially if she has watched past seasons of "American Idol." At any rate all of the contestants got an extraordinary education with this group's vast array of music from attending Cirque du Soleil's The Beatles Love show. Once their own Beatles song performances were over more cuts were made. Then it was back to Los Angeles for another audition to determine the Top 24.

This week Brad Womack meets the families of Emily, Chantal O., Shawntel, and Ashley H. The entire first part of the episode was a recap (and commentary) of where Brad is at emotionally with these four women. With Chantal and Ashley, he's worried about emotional roller coasters. With Emily, he's worried about her opening up to him in terms of her daughter. With Shawntel, it's only a matter of getting closer to her as he feels he's just not quite up to the level he is with the other women.

The first hometown date was with Chantal O. in Seattle, Washington. Chantal first takes him to her house where he meets her sweater wearing dog (which resembles a baby bear) and less than enthusiastic cats. If he chooses her, she says, he'll have to want her dog and cats, too. Next, Chantal takes him to meet her family. It's a great family that Brad easily clicks with and finds himself uncommonly similar to her father. Brad has made such an impression that, according to her dad, the couple could marry the next day and they'd totally approve.

'Fringe' Episode 3.12: Concentrate and Ask Again

This episode was pretty good. We got quite a bit of character development despite the self contained nature of the episode. I'm not too sure about Olivia's angsting, then again, I've never had my life

taken over by a parallel universe doppelganger, so maybe extenuating circumstances may come into play here.

Olivia's claim that "Fauxlivia" is better than her sounds whiny, but the more you think about it, she may have a point. Even when Olivia was brainwashed into thinking that she was the other world's Olivia, she seemed far more chipper and friendly. Fauxlivia posing as Olivia also seemed more outgoing and friendly. It would be nice to see a bit more of that aspect of her personality come out into the open.

'American Idol': Hollywood Week - Final Solo Rounds

One of the best parts of Hollywood Week is seeing them perform solo once again on "American Idol", this time with musical accompaniment either from the house band, the contestants playing their own instruments or singing A cappella once again. During the one-hour broadcast we were treated to nearly 45 minutes of performances, some were in its entirety or simply brief highlights.

There were those truly entertaining ones as well as some performers letting nerves or lost lyrics get the best of them. Of course this happens every season. Season 10 was no different. A lot of contestants were showcased we had not seen before, which was refreshing. On the other hand there were others who are constantly on camera. These are some of the highlights I enjoyed or that grabbed my attention. In the final minutes on "American Idol" they ended up choosing 50 out of the 100 contestants. Now they will go on to Las Vegas for more auditions.

"Survivor: Redemption Island": Season Premier Offers Most Amusing Tribal Council Ever

Season 21 of "Survivor: Nicaragua" lost some momentum with viewers, especially after the startling season of "Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains". It was inevitable that "Survivor" would have to do something to pick up waning interest in the show. Their response came in the form of Boston Rob and Russell Hantz and a little challenge called Redemption.

The contestants, with Jeff Probst, disembark from the helicopter, where soon they are joined by the two proclaimed best villains of "Survivor". (It's curious that Rob got a huge cheer and Russell got a few claps and an "Oh no.") In drawing for buffs, Rob got to go with Ometepe and Russell, much to some's dismay, went with Zapatera.

Jeff Probst lays another surprise on the contestants; in "Survivor: Redemption Island", contestants are no longer voted off for good. When they are voted off, they head to "Redemption Island" where they will wait for the next reject. They will square off against each other. At some point in the game, the last person standing will reenter the competition for the million dollars. According to Russell, that doesn't scare him a bit. "Put me on that island, see what happens," he says. "'Cause Imma win the challenge, Imma come back, Imma take some heads off." (Enter Russell's new theme music, "Imma Be" by the Blackeyed Peas.)

With only an hour for a results show on "Live to Dance" the special guests were the Top 6 finalists. They all came out at various times in the lavish production number. It was great seeing all of them together and dancing as one. There were no special guest stars like on other results show. It was primarily seeing the Top Three dancers perform one last time.

You saw a lot of film clips from the auditions and a recap of their journey on the show when a dance act was eliminated. Some of the semifinalists were in the audience. One of them received a very special gift from Chrysler, a new vehicle for the family of Chi Town Breakers. That was such a touching moment. I've enjoyed watching "Live to Dance" and hope it will return for another season. However, here's how it played out.

Our bachelor Brad and the girls head to Costa Rica where they have the possibility of falling in love while gazing at a steaming volcano.

The first one on one date goes to Chantal O., who for some unknown reason (besides pure jealousy, that is) has been the scope of Michelle's rants for several episodes. Brad Womack takes Chantal O. on a scenic helicopter ride and then to the world's longest zipline. In the evening, it's a beautiful picnic by the river... but within minutes it started pouring and off they went to Brad's room for fruit and conversation and some kissy-kiss. Brad gives her the rose and she happily accepts.

After that night's perfect rainy date, on comes the group date where it rains even more. And once again, Michelle moans and groans about Chantal, about the group date, pick a subject. Brad takes them repelling down a waterfall. Michelle is pissed (what else is new) because she and Brad had a pact not to repel with anyone but each other. After she throws a few punches, she changes her mood when Brad said he was going down the waterfall with her so he wouldn't break their pact. Afterward, they pile into a natural hot springs where more drama flies about and more jealousy rears it's head. Brad ends up not giving the rose to anyone at the end of the date.

Michelle who, up to this point, has been exhibiting some freakish behavior, woke up with a spontaneous black eye, and because of that black eye, she said she had to have a one on one date with Brad so he could make her boo-boo all better. She even threatened that if she doesn't get her own one on one this week, the dear bachelor just might get a black eye of his own. I kid you not.

But alas, Chantal O. gets the first one on one date. They take a helicopter ride to Catalina Island where they go out into the water and actually walk on the ocean floor with spacemen helmets. Chantal is terrified of it but sucks it up and does it anyway. Once there, though, she has a blast. Afterwards, they go for a perfect beach front chillax pad and talk about marriage over wine.

Back to the Michelle Show, she starts to freak out about being compared to Chantal. She is basically obsessing over whether Chantal would come back or not. She has already presumed to know what Brad is looking for, what he wants... she already has their life planned out. And much to Michelle's dismay, Chantal does get the rose.

For the group date of the week, Brad Womack takes 9 girls out to do a radio show with Dr. Drew in hopes of getting the girls to open up to him. The group has serious discussions about what they are looking for, about love in general, and how they might be compatible with bachelor Brad. Afterward, they go back to where he is staying, hang out at the hot tub and start vying for his attention. It gets very competitive and apparently Brad is loving it. Some of the girls, not so much. At the end of the date, Brit accepted the rose from the bachelor.

Michelle gets the next one on one and the other girls start making her feel insecure that her date card's description doesn't have the word "love" in it. And again, just like it was on her birthday it

is supposed to be ALL ABOUT HER. There was another threat of violence against another girl who she perceived a threat for Brad's attention. On their date, Brad takes her repelling down the side of a building which she is terrified of. But they do it anyway -- and kiss -- on their way down, feeding further into her frenzy. She gets the rose at the end of the date.

Again, Brad Womack takes counsel with his therapist before going into the next cocktail party. Emotions are higher and jealousy rears its head when he shows a bit of favoritism toward Emily.

At the end of the ceremony, 3 girls went home, 11 girls are left.

It's like watching a bad train wreck. But if past seasons are any indication, it's going to get worse and worse. Her behavior will escalate and either it will eventually blow up or Brad will *gasp!* actually choose Michelle in the end where in a few months, the outcome will be a repeat of the Jake and Vienna fiasco. If I were in that position, I think I'd want to see what goes on behind the scenes, so to speak, in order to weed out the "Michelles".

If nothing else happens the rest of the season, I want to see Michelle leave.

The coming weeks appear to be a rehash of some of seasons past. The group is going on the road where they will star in a show and go racing just to name a few of the things they'll be doing. What kind of effect will the race track have on Emily, whose late love was a race car driver?

In my area, there are a great number of medical professions and jobs which require their employees to wear cotton medical scrubs. But did you know that there were many other place which require the same thing? And did you know that even if you aren't required to wear them, many do so anyway? They are extremely comfortable and easy to clean. You don't have to worry about what to wear and they come in a variety of colors and sizes.

Body scrubs for men are easy to wear for a number of tasks not least of which it would be ideal for painting and other moderate household tasks. You wouldn't inadvertently mess up clothing your wife would be upset about. A cheap nursing uniform can be worn for jobs like food prep, plastics manufacturing, and I have a friend who sculpts as a hobby and she always wears scrubs when she's working the clay.

There are so many uses for scrubs and it's economical, too! PP

I've been building up a pretty big personal library in the corner of my living room over the past few years, but I buy the books way more quickly than I actually read them though. Well, I've decided that it's actually about time that I read through my whole personal library. So I'm doing that as one of my New Year's resolutions for 2011.

I think that I just need to stop going in book stores during my lunch breaks because that's where it really gets me. It was so hard for me not to buy a bunch of books on clearance during the after-Christmas sales. While I was online looking through some and torturing myself, I came across the website www.Clear-Internet.com and after I read through it a little, I decided to sign up for an internet package through it.

I guess that my reading New Year's resolution may be a little extreme, but I'm not going to allow myself to buy any more books until after I've read all the ones I already own, which will probably take a while. PP
